Prepare for New

An organizing basic is to create a clean slate. This is the ideal time of year to consider these ideas:

  • Clear Mind- When our thoughts are whirling and overwhelming, it's hard to think clearly. Do a mind dump on paper or a voice recorder to give your ideas a place to land. Organize them once they are out.

  • Clear Breath- When we're stressed, we hold our breath, tense our bodies, and lack clarity. Pause to take some slow, deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts. Hold for 7. Breathe out through your mouth for 8 counts.

  • Clear Surface- Cluttered areas make it more challenging to focus your attention. Choose one small, primary surface and clear it. Discard or recycle what is no longer needed. Reroute items that belong elsewhere. Keep organizing until the spot is clutter-free.
