Summer Organizing and Pacing

Hello, summer. It’s extremely hot lately, and I know this heat can affect our energy levels - it has definitely impacted mine. My enjoyable river walks have been put on hold during this heatwave. Instead, I’m looking forward to my favorite water activities, such as kayaking and spending time by the ocean.

If you’re tackling summer organizing projects, remember to pace yourself. Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and pay attention to your energy needs. Choose projects that suit the weather conditions. For instance, save the hot attic organizing for a cooler time of year.

No matter what you decide to work on, it’s a great time to edit, declutter, and release things you no longer love, use, or need.  You’ll feel much lighter with less clutter.

This summer, I have a mix of activities planned: working with clients, writing, planning my next workshop, completing home organizing projects, having some mini-vacations, celebrating a family wedding, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Do you want help organizing, editing, and decluttering your things, thoughts, or time? I’m here for you. How can I help?

Fall is a Visceral Season of Change

Fall is a visceral season of change. The magnificent color shifts and cooler weather cue me to assess and act. I’m knee-deep in exciting professional and personal projects. There is the clutter workshop on October 17th. Registration is now open. I invite you to join us and would love to see you there.

I’ve had a flurry of media requests. I contributed to many articles for USA Today, LivingEtc., and Homes & Gardens. Some are out, and others are coming soon. You can find these and other features at ohsoorganized.com/media.

Our home is undergoing changes. We’ve done tree work, and a new roof will be installed soon.

The guest room, which used to be our daughters’ bedroom, is being renovated. The positive effect of fresh paint, new blinds, bedding, and closet interior is incredible. It’s also an opportunity to review what stays or goes. Edit time!

While it was liberating to release some things, emptying the closet and touching the memorabilia was incredibly emotional. It took me by surprise. Moving stuff around stirs up the energy and memories in a space, and I felt that deeply.

How can I help and support you this season?

The Summer Exhale

The beginning of summer feels like a giant exhale. The kids are off from school, the anticipation of travel plans is present, and a visceral sense of ‘having more time’ is palpable. Is it because the days are longer? Is it that some of the regular meetings and responsibilities are on pause? Is the desire to relax and play so needed? Summer cues us to shift gears.

Some of my friends are teachers and have the summer off. Others are in pre-retirement mode. I am happy for them and am fascinated by how they embrace their less scheduled time. While I’m feeling the calmer summer vibe, I am working and don’t have the summer off.  I have, however, been playing more and appreciating extended daylight to walk in the woods or be outside.

I’m also looking forward to beach time and exploring new and familiar places. With the recent heat, I can’t wait to return to the water. Kayaking on the Croton River is one of my favorite things to do.

Summer is also a great time to edit, plan, and fix. I’ll be working on a few projects for my home and business. Let me know if you want help organizing your thoughts or things this summer. I’m here to support you and am a quick phone call or email away. How can I help?
